Jennifer GUCCI International, Inc., Launches Disposable Maize® Brand Paper iPlates® Printed With The USDA's MyPlate Food Icon

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., June 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Jennifer GUCCI International, Inc., is making it easier for kids to make healthier food choices with it's Maize® Brand of environmentally friendly paper iPlates® that are printed with the USDA's MyPlate food icon. The MyPlate paper iPlates® will be available November 11, 2011.

The budget-friendly bioplastic coated environmentally friendly paper iPlates® where invented by Renneé Godden-Gonzales. Renneé is not your average soccer mom, the 49-year-old mother of two and a part time actress and resident of La Jolla, California, says she came up with the bioplastic-coated paper iPlate so kids like her 5-year-old grandson, Maddox, could color his paper plate with safe and non-toxic Crayola crayons and still eat off them.

"The plastic resin that goes into the Maize® Brand of environmentally friendly paper iPlates® emits fewer greenhouse gas emissions and requires less energy to produce than the petroleum-based plastics used in traditional plastic coated paper plates, could change the way we eat," said Richard H. Davis, President and CEO of Jennifer GUCCI International, Inc., "iPrinting the USDA's MyPlate food icon on our environmentally friendly paper iPlates® could be a cool teaching tool," said Davis.

The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, issued by the USDA in January of this year, form the basis of the federal government's nutrition and education programs, federal assistance programs and dietary advice provided by health and nutrition professionals.

The Guidelines' messages include: Balance Calories, Foods to Increase and Foods to Reduce. The recommendations are:

1) Physical activity of 30 minutes per day for all ages, 60 minutes per day for children and teens and 60-90 minutes for those who want to lose weight.

2) Choose nutrient rich foods: vegetables, fruits and whole grains, fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products, seafood, lean meats and poultry, eggs, beans and peas, nuts and seeds.

3) Limit the intake of: sodium, solid fats, added sugars and refined grains.

These recommended guidelines are intended as an integrated set of advice to achieve an overall healthy eating pattern. The new food icon is meant to be a simple easy reminder for families, children and nutrition professionals.
